And this little fellow:

Infant Sorrow
William Blake
My mother groan'd! my father wept.
Into the dangerous world I leapt:
Helpless, naked, piping loud,
Like a fiend hid in a cloud.
Struggling in my father's hands,
Striving against my swaddling bands,
Bound and weary, I thought best
To sulk upon my mother's breast.
*****
Infant Joy
William Blake
"I have no name:
I am but two days old."
What shall I call thee?
"I happy am,
Joy is my name."
Sweet joy befall thee!
Pretty joy!
Sweet joy but two days old,
Sweet joy I call thee:
Thou dost smile,
I sing the while,
Sweet joy befall thee!

THANK YOU, SUSAN! I love the WCW. And I'll keep a lookout for the CD.
Happy Birthday, Paul! Hope it's a good one and that you have lots of visitations. Loved your turtle visitor.
THANK YOU, GWYNNE! Alas, the turtle visitor had moved from his/her spot at the base of the tree, but s/he must be close by.
I saw two jackrabbits on my walk the other day--together! They didn't run away when I stopped to watch them. Do you think there will be more rabbits soon?
Happy Birthday, Paul!!
Happy Birthday,Paul!
A memorable Birthday, Paul-
a year of inspiration/affiration
constantly enlarging
More exciting opportunities
than you and Mark
could possibly handle, and
long, satisfying conversations with the blank screen.
Make this a memorable one Paul!

happy birthday!
my dad's birthday is today too - 70 years old! when i spoke to him he'd just gone sailing & was about to go for a bike ride - such a spry old fellow may you live to be :)
That's a great story, Sophie. Thank you. And happy birthday to your father. I spoke to my father yesterday--he's turning 86 in December--and he spent the afternoon going on rides, including a roller coaster, at the Jersey shore with my niece, Jordan.
