lovely photos. i'll have to check out the songs later.
i'm going to offer a couple of music suggestions for you. perhaps these are artists you know.

Martin Sexton---singer/songwriter from upstate New York; nearly four octave range in his voice; amazing onstage; best song "The Way I Am"

Willy Porter---kickass guitar marvel; singer/songwriter; onstage freakin' stellar; from Wisconsin; best song "Paper Airplane"

Chris Pierce---LA-based singer/songwriter; opens for BB King (that's where I saw Pierce last week. He opened for BB King. The King part was the weirdest concert I've ever seen); wow--scatting and more; someone i'm going to start following.

Lastly---The Blue Nile; I'm restricted to playing songs from this Scottish-angst band to when my husband is out of the house. These guys put out an album every ten or so years; in the interim they must sit around and suffer so they have fodder for their songs. Each track registers a kind of appealing uneasiness in the gut.

That top photo looks like an illustration for "Out of the Cradle Endlessly Rocking"...

Well, it's interesting to think of that being the beach he knew. That is, Whitman and Long Island.

Thank, Nancy, for the wonderful suggestions. The only one I know of on your list is Martin Sexton, who deserves a post of his own--maybe something from that live album of holiday songs. We saw him early last year at a Joni tribute at Carnegie Hall. He sang "Marcie" from the first album, and completely refreshed it by finding new depths in the song. He might have been the most committed performer there.

Happy Thanksgiving to All!
